Listed below are the details of the Pan African Alliance Sanctuaries (PASA), including information on the primate species they care for and volunteering details.  It is these sanctuaries that Save The Primates aspires to help, over time, and through your generous donations and sponsorships.

About PASA
PASA was formed in 2000 to unite the primate sanctuaries and define mutual areas of interest and to work together and find solutions to common problems, working for the protection of wildlife. They collectively care for over 670 chimpanzees, 80 gorillas, 40 bonobos, 200 drills, baboons and other endangered primates.

Ape Action Africa
(formerly called Cameroon Wildlife Aid Fund (CWAF)
Ape Action Africa is committed to ape conservation, protecting Cameroon’s great apes through direct action. Our front line conservation work includes rescuing orphaned or injured gorillas, chimpanzees and monkeys, providing them with individual care, and giving them a safe forest sanctuary home where they can live with their own kind. We also work directly with local communities to ensure a greater understanding of primates and the importance of their long-term protection.

Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Association (CRA)
A chimpanzee rehabilitation project in Africa, working to give orphaned chimpanzees the opportunity to grow up free and independent in their natural environment, rather than leaving them to their all too frequent fates as sad captives in a human world, or worse, as substitute humans in a laboratory. Protecting and monitoring a population of 76 chimpanzees occupying three islands in the River Gambia National Park.

Center for Chimpanzee Conservation (CCC)
Non-profit organization working to secure the future of the Chimpanzee Conservation Center (CCC) and at an existing site in the National Park du Haut Niger, Guinea, which is currently home to 41 orphaned and confiscated chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes verus). Dedicated to the protection and preservation of chimpanzees, chiefly through the support and rehabilitation of chimpanzees who have been orphaned or otherwise taken from the wild, and through local public education.

Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary
Committed to the rescue & rehabilitation of endangered & orphaned chimpanzees. Tacugama also endeavours to help protect and conserve the species in the wild by engaging with the public through environmental sensitisation & training programmes.
Location: Freetown, Sierra Leone

Cercopan Sanctuary
A non-profit, non-government organization based in Cross River State, Nigeria, whose aim is to conserve Nigeria’s primates through sustainable rainforest conservation, community partnerships, education, primate rehabilitation and research. They have established an international research and education centre for the study of non-human primates, biodiversity research, forest management and conservation in Cross River State’s tropical rainforest north of Calabar.

Pandrillus Drill Rehabilitation & Breeding Center

Project Protection des Gorilles – Congo (PPG-Congo)
Working to ensure that the late John Aspinall's innovative work in protecting and breeding wild animals should continue. As well as the two wild animal parks in Kent, The John Aspinall Foundation manages two gorilla rescue and rehabilitation projects in central African countries of Gabon and Congo, where we have successfully reintroduced over 50 gorillas.

Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Sanctuary (Jane Goodall Institute, Congo)
The Tchimpounga Sanctuary is the largest chimpanzee sanctuary on the African continent, working with conservation, chimp rescue and education. They house 115 chimpanzees orphaned by the bushmeat trade. In most cases, the Congolese authorities deliver the chimpanzees to the sanctuary after confiscating them from hunters trying to sell the young chimps into the pet or entertainment trades.

Friends Of Bonobos
LOLA YA BONOBO, the only bonobo sanctuary in the world, provides refuge to over 50 bonobos, where once rehabilitated, the infants join the group of the juvenile and adult bonobos in over 60 acres of enclosed forest.

Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage
Primate sanctuary in central Zambia is a non-profit refuge caring for a wide variety of sick, wounded or unwanted animals - the primary residents being over 100 orphaned chimpanzees.

The Vervet Monkey Foundation
Non-profit organization protecting and promoting the welfare of the vervet monkey on all levels, providing sanctuary for orphaned, injured and abused vervet monkeys &rehabilitation into viable troops for release and re-introduction into their natural environment.

C.A.R.E. Phalaborwa
wildlife rehabilitation facility dedicated to the care, welfare, rehabilitation and protection of injured and orphaned indigenous wild animals. The centre specializes in the care of chacma baboons, actively pursuing their rescue, rehabilitation and release.

Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary
Caring for chimpanzees confiscated/rescued within Uganda, providing a safe home and ensuring their welfare. Other goals are to care for the environment on Ngamba Island, to provide a high quality educational experience for visitors as well as benefiting the island local communities.

Volunteer Program: Ngamba Island offers a one-month volunteer program for Ugandan nationals only. For those people outside of Uganda who wish to visit, the “Long Stay Visitor Program” offers a unique, hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of the sanctuary. Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary
Ol Pejeta is home to Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary and 90,000 acres of African safari country to explore.With an astounding variety of animals including the non-indigenous chimpanzees and the big 5 (the endangered black rhino, leopard, elephant, buffalo and lion), the combination of amazing wildlife and stunning views across the open plains of Ol Pejeta guarantees an unforgettable safari experience.
